James Cameron- "The magic doesn't come from the director's mind, it comes from within the hearts of the actors."

Canadian born in 1954, James Cameron has worked his way from art directing to the career of being a well known film director with many notable works such as Alien (1986), Titanic (1997) and Avatar (2009).

Cameron has received numerous awards, mainly for his work on the Titanic and Avatar----

A common trade mark often seen in his films include a strong female lead character (eg Ripley in Alien), close up tracking shots, dreams, the theme of water and the often used line "Go go go".

Steven Spielberg- "I dream for a living."

Spielberg, born in 1946, Ohio, as an American director, writer and producer. Having directed a huge number of highly successful films such as Jaws (1975), E.T. (1982) and Jurassic Park- the highest grossing film at the time (1993), Spielberg is possibly one of the most notable Hollywood directors.

Some common conventions of his work are that; people often discover something extraordinary, powerful flashlight scenes occur, there are references to WW2 and there's use of piano music in key scenes.

Spielberg has been nominated for 7 and won 3 Academy Awards, and 9 of his films were up for the Best Picture Oscar. he received the AFI Life Achievement Award in 1995 and was honoured by the National Archives and Records Administration in 2013.
