KOMA- our film title
"Coma,
from the Greek word "koma," meaning deep sleep, is a state of extreme
unresponsiveness, in which an individual exhibits no voluntary movement
or behavior. Furthermore, in a deep coma, even painful stimuli (actions
which, when performed on a healthy individual, result in reactions) are
unable to affect any response, and normal reflexes may be lost."
With the film idea finally
decided upon, we as a group talked about different film titles and names
we could call the film. due to the film being about a guy in a coma, we
played around with many similar concepts as
well as medical terms and even tried different languages.
We googled coma patients and looked at people's past experiences.
With this in mind, we
concluded that the best film title we could decided on was KOMA, the
greek word for coma. With there already being a film called Coma, we
didn't want to copyright this title and make the title
the same. the fact that the title is in greek gives the film more of a
raw edge and makes it more uncommon. the word koma can be closely
associated with the word coma, making it easy to link the two together.
With the 1978 film already being well known and big hit, we didn't necessarily want anything too far off yet exactly similar, due to their already being numerous adaptations, such as the 2012 TV series, as well as the original novel upon which both of these screen plays were based on.
